Not an official warning service

Open Earth is an information service, not an official warning system. In an emergency, follow your national civil protection agency and local authorities.

Our pages are built automatically from public data published by government agencies and scientific bodies. Feeds can be delayed, revised, incomplete or temporarily unavailable, and automated summaries can contain mistakes. Never rely on this site, or on alerts we send, to make decisions about your safety.

Using the site

You are welcome to read, share and link to any page. You must not try to disrupt the service, overload it with automated requests, scrape it at a rate that affects other visitors, or get around any limits or security measures.

Data downloads and embeds we offer may be used freely with a link back to Open Earth. The underlying data belongs to the agencies listed on our data sources page, and their own terms also apply.

Your account

You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account. Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity on your account.

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Community guidelines

Felt reports, comments and other posts are public. Please be kind, stay on topic and only report what you actually experienced.

Do not post anyone’s personal details, false emergency information, spam, advertising, hateful or abusive content, or anything illegal. Our moderators may hide or remove posts and ban accounts that break these rules. Use the report button on any post to flag it.

You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us permission to display it on the site and in related data (for example, counts of felt reports).

Advertising and links

Some pages carry advertising, which keeps the site free. Ads are clearly labelled and do not influence our data. See our advertising page and privacy policy.

We link to official agencies and other websites. We are not responsible for their content.

Liability

Open Earth is provided as is, without any guarantee that it is accurate, complete or always available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or its alerts.
